September 2025 - Igniting the Spirit
This is the theme for worship at Jeff Street - Igniting the Spirit. And one of the ways we can do that is by allowing our spirit time to engage with the spirit of those around us and the Spirit that joins us together. We’ve started off September with a variety of ways of being together - aside from our regularly scheduled Sunday morning worship times.
On Wednesday, September 3rd, we gathered for the first in a series of monthly Wednesday Night Potluck Suppers. There were 23 of us in attendance - the food was plentiful and the conversation was beautiful. We look forward to continuing to gather like this on the first Wednesday of each month.
Then, on Saturday, September 6th, 9 of us joined with the good folks of Grace Immanuel UCC to pack up hotdogs, beans and snacks for our friends over at St. John’s Center. Many hands make light work and it took just over one hour to prepare over 100 meals to be delivered. Grace Immanuel plans to continue this as a monthly event on the 1st Saturday of each month.
Finally, on Sunday, September 7th, 14 of us gathered back together at 6pm for an immersive and sensory sound bath experience led by two of our creative congregants. We spent an hour together in sound and silence, light and darkness, sitting and laying on the floor as we were able and being together.
We have kicked off a Season of Igniting the Spirit and there is more to come! This Saturday (September 13th) we’ll have our monthly Urban Goatwalker open-mic coffeehouse from 7-10pm and on Sunday, September 21st our entire Sunday morning worship service will center around learning about ministry teams in and around Jeff Street - followed by another potluck opportunity.
