October 2025 - Growing in the Spirit

Throughout the month of September, we spent a lot of energy thinking about igniting the Spirit. Igniting the Spirit of Creativity. Igniting the Spirit of Hope. Igniting the Spirit of Togetherness and bravely seeking to Ignite the Spirit of Discomfort. I felt like ignition was most relatable to discovering (rediscovering?) or at least looking for the work of the Spirit in and among us. These are challenging times and sometimes even being brave enough to search for the Spirit is enough to give a sense of hope and togetherness.

Now, in the month of October, we're talking about Growing the Spirit. Growing the Spirit of Faith. Growing the Spirit of Compassion. Growing the Spirit of Persistence and Growing the Spirit of Humility. In these trying times, the thought of something positive growing can be difficult to imagine. But good things are growing all the time. Pets, Plants, ministries, opportunities. I hope we'll be brave enough to strike out and grow together.

We're also looking at how we'll be moving forward. I'm appreciative of the upcoming Installation service for me as your pastor. We're finding ways to come together. If you haven't opted to participate in the Wednesday night Zoom meeting, and are available, I encourage you to pick a week to join us. Our Hospitality Team is providing information throughout the month of October - find ways to engage with them.

We're fully staffed- grow in your knowledge and appreciation of Katherine & William. Get to know someone knew. Find ways to move past hurts from the past or assumptions about those you don't know. Have a conversation. Share a little of what matters to you. Lean on one another.

One of the things I ask on Wednesday nights is that we share a high-low-buffalo. High and low are self-explanatory, but a Buffalo is something odd or unexpected that happened in your life. I believe it helps us keep our eyes up and looking at the world around us. Find moments of wonder or laughter in the everyday. Is there a motorcyclist with a bunny head? A skeleton riding in a side car? a rainbow out of nowhere, a moon that almost appears fake?

Join us as we continue to move forward together - not one step back!
